Terms and Conditions

By taking the hire vehicle you are accepting these terms and conditions. It is your responsibility to carefully read, and if there is anything you do not understand or do not agree with, please ask and discuss with the Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire.

Definitions

For the purposes of the Terms and Conditions:

Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire means Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire Ltd, 10 Greyhound Croft, Hinckley, Leicestershire, LE10 0FX, United Kingdom.
Hirer means the person named under the heading Hirer’s Name on the Rental Agreement.
Additional Driver means the person named under the heading Additional Driver’s Name on the Rental Agreement.
Hire Period means the period as stated under the heading Hire Period on the Rental Agreement which the vehicle is in the hirer's possession.
Campervan means the vehicle as stated under the heading Campervan on the Rental Agreement and includes tyres, tools, the living equipment and any other campervan equipment, documents relating to the campervan and any replacement or substitute campervan which may be provided by Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire.
Rental Agreement means the document read and signed by the hirer and the additional driver (when applicable) on collection of the campervan. It includes details of the hirer, additional driver, hire period, breakdown cover, the campervan, pre-departure inspection report (covering vehicle condition, vehicle and habitation checklist), demonstration checklist and acknowledgements.
Security Damage Deposit (SDD) means the money held as security by Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire in relation to this hire.

In the event of any discrepancy between these Terms and Conditions and any other Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire literature, the provisions of these Terms and Conditions apply.

Bookings

There is a £100 reservation deposit payable to secure a booking, this will be deducted from the total hire charge. The balance to be paid in full by the hirer 3 weeks prior to commencement of the hire date. If the booking is made less than 3 weeks prior to the hire date, the balance must be paid in full. If the booking is made less than 7 days prior to the hire date, the balance must be paid in full by back transfer. Campervans will not be released without full payment being received.

All payments must be paid electronically, by bank transfer or by card (debit or credit). From the 1st of August 2024, all card payments will incur a 2% surcharge to cover processing fees.

What Is Included in The Rental Fee?

Unlimited mileage and Fully Comprehensive insurance for the hirer. There is a £20 fee for an additional driver.

Additional
The hirer will be responsible for all charges incurred by the hirer due to operator error, i.e. wrong fuel, windscreen damage, wing mirror, flat battery, tyre damage, lost keys.

Additional insurance premiums may occur for some drivers i.e. “high risk” occupations (see below Insurance section). These charges will be passed on to the hirer.

The campervan will commence hire with a full tank of fuel. The hirer must also return the campervan with a full tank of fuel (this means full to the top and not just enough to get the fuel gauge to “full”). Failure to do this can result in a charge of up to £100.

The campervan will include a Campingaz 907 gas cylinder for the internal stove, this is not guaranteed to be full (we will ensure that it’s not less than half full). If the gas cylinder runs low and needs replacing while on hire, the hirer can purchase a replacement and Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire will reimburse one  cylinder of gas on the production of valid receipt at completion of the hire.

Campingaz 907 gas cylinders are widely available throughout the United Kingdom.

Hire Charges

Rental is charged on a nightly basis. There is a minimum rental period of 2 nights.

Charges apply for late returns at £50 per hour. Variation of collection and return times are available by prior agreement. Collection and return location is to Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire premises. There is no refund for late pick up or early return.

Hirer / Additional Driver

The hirer and additional driver (when applicable) must produce photographic proof of identity plus proof of address as stated below.

The following documentation must be provided:

  • Copy of the photo card driver’s licence (address and ID must be up to date)

  • Online licence check code, the code can be obtained from: https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence

  • Two forms of proof of address from different sources (the address and name must match the driving licence provided): one primary and one secondary, or two primary proofs of address

Primary proof of address:

  • Electricity bill / statement

  • Water bill / statement

  • Gas bill / statement

  • Broadband / Landline bill

  • Council tax bill

  • TV licence

  • Bank statement

  • Credit card bill / statement

  • Mortgage statement

  • Polling card

  • HMRC self-assessment / tax credit

Secondary proof of address:

  • Student loan

  • Shotgun licence

  • Payslip

  • Mobile phone bill

  • Pension letter

  • Car Finance statement

  • Loan statement

  • Property deed

An annual council tax bill will be accepted. All other documents must be dated within 90 days of the hire date.

Driver criteria:

  • All drivers must have held a full UK licence for a minimum of 2 years

  • All drivers must be aged between 25-75

  • Drivers can have up to 6 points on their licence (providing they are 2 minor offences)

Two,  3 point convictions are acceptable (i.e. 2x SP30’s, 3 points each) without referral.

Single 6 point SP30, SP50 and CU80 convictions are acceptable subject to a £1000 excess - all other 6 points+ offences will require referral to the insurers.

Single 4 point offenses are acceptable without referral and subject to standard terms.

  • No more than one fault or outstanding incident / claim in the last 3 years

Campervans will not be released without a signed Rental Agreement, cleared and traceable funds from the hirer (which includes the SDD) paid electronically. Cash payment is not accepted.

Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire may not be able to get cover for any driver with more than 6 points on the licence in the past 3 years. Please contact Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire to verify cover can be arranged.

Drivers are personally liable for all legal penalties (e.g. parking tickets, congestion charges, speeding fines) which are incurred during the period of hire.

Collection and Return

Collection and return of the campervan will be at the premises of Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire unless otherwise arranged and agreed on booking.

Collection: between 10am and 6pm (this must be agreed in advance of any hire). Please allow 45 minutes for the hand-over to complete the documentation and demonstrate your campervan to you. The hirer can park 1 vehicle on the highway at LE10 0FX. The vehicle and any belongings left inside are left entirely at the owner’s risk and Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire cannot take any responsibility for loss or damage.

A pre-departure inspection of the campervan will be carried out in advance of the hire, this forms part of the rental agreement. If you wish to validate the report at the collection, then please allow for additional time.

Return: between 10am and 6pm (this must be agreed in advance of any hire). The campervan must be returned on the date and at the time stated on the rental agreement. There are no refunds for early returns.

A return inspection of the campervan will be carried out. If you wish to be present for this, please allow for additional time. Otherwise, a video will be taken externally and internally of the campervan and the inspection will be carried out within 48 hours.

Late return: If you are delayed, Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire must be advised immediately. Failure to advise may result in prosecution for driving whilst uninsured. An additional charge of £50 per hour or part thereof will be payable for all late returns, later return exceeding 2 hours will be charged at 1 night’s rental cost regardless of the circumstances. The hirer will be charged for any additional costs incurred by Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire e.g. lost hire for the next hirer. Out of hours' collection and return service is available by prior agreement.

Campervans must be returned clean and in the same condition as they left Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire, otherwise a charge will be made for excessive valeting and/or upholstery cleaning. In the case gross negligence Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire reserves the right to recover full costs in order to return the vehicle to the state in which it was handed over.

The vehicle must be returned with a completely full tank of diesel fuel (not with the needle just on Full). Failure to do this may result in a charge of up to £100.

Insurance

Insurance is valid only for the hire period stated in the Rental Agreement and therefore the driving of the campervan after the contract period may result in the driver committing a traffic offence. This means the hirer is entirely responsible for any accident damage, injury or consequential loss after the expiry of the hire period. The hirer is responsible to ensure that the total number of persons to be carried does not exceed the berth limit and all passengers are wearing seat belts while the campervan is in motion. Fully Comprehensive insurance is provided by Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire to the drivers named on the Rental Agreement subject to the conditions below:

The Insured Campervan shall not be let out on hire to or be driven by:

Hirers under 25 or over 75 years of age.

Hirers aged 25 or over unless a full valid UK driving license has been held for 2 years.

Persons who have been convicted of an offence in connection with the driving of a motor vehicle or motorcycle and/or have had their driving licence endorsed or suspended or penalty points imposed. Parking and not more than 2 speeding offences in the past 3 years may be ignored. “Spent” convictions, covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 may be disregarded.

Persons who have had their licence revoked by DVLA on medical grounds or convictions.

Persons who have had their insurance declined and/or renewal refused and/or special insurance terms imposed as a result of claims experience and/or have had their insurance or cover cancelled by any Motor Insurer.

Persons engaged wholly or partly in professional entertainment or professional sports persons.

Jockeys and persons connected with racing of any sort.

Persons who, whilst driving, have been involved in more than 1 accident during the last 3 years.

Foreign Service Personnel other than persons born in the United Kingdom.

Security Damage Deposit (SDD)

There is a refundable £750 (or £1000 if attending a festival or sporting event) Security Damage Deposit payable. This is fully refundable within 7 working days of return of the campervan to the agreed location, on the agreed date and time providing the campervan is in the same condition as it was let out. This means the interior and all contents are present and clean.

This SDD will be used to fund any loss or damage to equipment, fixtures, fittings, windows, wing mirrors, tyres or negligent damage to the vehicle.

The hirer agrees to pay Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire any additional costs over and above the SDD value should damages exceed the SDD value.

A cleaning fee of £60 will be charged against the SDD if the vehicle is not returned with the interior in a clean condition.

Insurance Extras

Personal Effects Travel Insurance

The hirer is encouraged to arrange their own Personal Effects and Travel Insurance.

Breakdown / Accident

In the event of breakdown or accident, Call Assist are at full disposal of the hirer (the number can be found on the Rental Agreement). Instructions for repair or replacement at a cost not exceeding £80 may be given by the hirer who will be reimbursed on the production of valid receipts at completion of the hire. Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire’s approval must be obtained by telephone on 07488 920980 for repairs in excess of this amount. Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire will not be responsible for hotel or any other expenses after the breakdown but will refund the hire charge for any complete night’s loss of use of the campervan.

Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire will not be under any liability for third party claims or damages with any accident or breakdown. The hirer must obtain names and addresses of all third parties and witnesses and report the accident to the police. In the event of an accident involving the vehicle the hirer shall notify Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire by telephone immediately after the accident or as soon as practicably possible. Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire will accept no responsibility for any loss, damage or expense which occurs as a result of any defect or breakdown unless it is due to a proven reason of their failure to adequately maintain the campervan in a fit state and condition. The hirer will make every effort to assist Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire in handling any claim arising, including providing all relevant information and attending Court to give evidence. The hirer will pay for any costs relating to the delivery of a change over vehicle as a result of an accident regardless of which party is at fault. No SDD or insurance excess will be refunded until any claim is settled.

Pets

Pets are not allowed in the campervan to ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and comfort for all hirers, including those with allergies or sensitivities. Any evidence will incur a cleaning cost of £120.

Smoking

Smoking (or vaping) in the campervan is not allowed. Any evidence will incur a cleaning cost of £120.

Care and Custody of the Campervan

  • The campervan must only be driven by the named drivers during the hire period.

  • The campervan must be driven in a safe manner which will not cause damage to people or other vehicles.

  • The hirer is liable for any damage, fault or loss, to or in the campervan or fixtures and fittings as a result of the hirer’s neglect or misuse of the campervan.

  • The maximum number of persons carried in the campervan shall be no more than the seat belts which must be used while the campervan is in motion.

  • The campervan must not be driven in prohibited areas and must not be taken outside of the United Kingdom.

  • The hirer shall not use the campervan for racing or any other activity other than social or domestic purposes and shall not carry passengers in the campervan for hire and reward.

  • The hirer must not pass possession or custody of the campervan to any persons and the campervan must be always locked when unattended with the additional steering lock fitted. The keys must not be left in the ignition. No claims by the hirer will be considered in respect of any loss or damage to personal belongings of effect of the hirer of any person or persons.

  • The campervan must not be driven by a person under the influence of alcohol or drugs or with a blood alcohol level in excess of that permitted by law.

  • The campervan must not be driven by anyone who is not authorised by law to drive.

  • The campervan must not be submerged in water or have contact with salt water.

  • The campervan must not be used to carry volatile liquids, gases, explosives or other corrosive or inflammable material other than fuel or cooking gas.

  • The campervan must not be used to attend a festival or major sporting event without notifying Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire prior to signing the Rental Agreement.

  • The campervan must not be driven on any road surfaces other than on metalled roads or suitable caravan or campsites.

  • The vehicle must not be used in breach of the hirer’s agreement under these terms and conditions.

Campervan Use

Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire will carry out a thorough pre-departure inspection on the campervan before the commencement of hire.  The hirer will be given a comprehensive hand-over to ensure he/she knows how everything works. There is also a full set of VW manuals and a guide to using some of the appliances in the vehicle. Should an onboard system fail during your hire, Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire will make every effort to remedy the fault whilst you are away but, in some circumstances, this may not be possible, and Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire cannot be held responsible and will not refund any monies should a loss of service be encountered.

No alterations or additions to the vehicle should be made without the prior written consent of Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire.

Road Traffic Offences / Fines

All fines incurred by the hirer for infringements of traffic laws or regulations and tolls/charges are the responsibility of the hirer and must be settled by the hirer. The hirer agrees to reimburse Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire in respect of any costs incurred by Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire in recovery of such fines and penalties from the hirer.

Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire will contact the hirer after the Rental Agreement finishes if any traffic offences/infringements are presented to Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire for your hire period. Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire will notify the drivers of any speeding or parking fines and there will be an administration charge of £50 for each infringement incurred throughout the hire period.

Failure to settle any such fees will be reported to the Police.

Exclusions And Liabilities

Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire shall not under any circumstances be liable to make any payments to the hirer in respect of, or to indemnify the hirer against loss, injury or damage sustained by the hirer or any third party as a result of the presence or use of the campervan or as a result of any defect therein. Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire takes no responsibility for any delay, loss, damage or injury that a hirer might experience no matter how it is caused or by whom. In taking delivery of the campervan the hirer shall be deemed to have satisfied themselves that it is in all respects road worthy and in proper and safe condition.

Cancellation By Hirer

Cancellation or postponement must be in writing (email or letter). A fee for cancellation after postponing the hire to a later date will be charged as though it were for the original hire.

  • More than 8 weeks prior to hire period: 10% of total hire charge will be forfeited unless dates rearranged.

  • 8 weeks to 3 weeks prior to hire period: 25% of total hire charge will be forfeited.

  • 3 weeks prior to hire period to no show: 50% of total hire charge will be forfeited.

Cancellation by Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire

Sometimes due to unforeseen circumstances (crash, theft, etc.) Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire are unable to supply the vehicle requested and may cancel a hire before or at the proposed commencement, or for reasons as follows:

Named driving licences are not produced or is invalid in accordance with stated conditions. No refund given.

Failure to provide funds for the Security Damage Deposit. No refund given.

Failure to provide the stated documentation required. No refund given.

Over occupancy of vehicle in accordance with the provision of seat belts. No refund given.

Campervan not available due to circumstances beyond our control. Full refund.

No compensation available for additional arrangements booked by hirer (e.g. flights, event tickets etc.).

Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire reserve the right to refuse to hire to any person, without stating cause.

Hirers are strongly advised to take out insurance against unavoidable cancellations.

Right To Change of Vehicle

Every effort will be made by Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire to ensure you receive the campervan ordered. However, Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire reserves the right to change your campervan type in the event of an operational issue. A full refund will be offered if the alternative campervan is not acceptable.

Conditions of Hire

The Rental Agreement is the sole contract for hiring the campervan between Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire and the hirer and the additional driver (when applicable).

These conditions cannot be varied or altered or waived by anyone providing services or facilities.

Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire cannot be bound by any representative or statement unless it is confirmed in writing by Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire.

Complaints

Please let us know about any faults or complaints on 07488 920980 immediately or as soon as possible.

In the event that a complaint is not satisfactorily resolved upon return, the hirer must inform Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire in writing within 14 working days. We hope to resolve complaints within 30 days. We try to learn from all complaints in the hope of preventing them from recurring in the future.

Left Property

We will inform you of any items left in the campervan. We will keep unclaimed items for a maximum of 3 months from the date of your return. Money can be claimed up to 1 year from the date of your return. Property must be collected from our premises by arrangement or couriered to you for an additional cost which will include postage and administration fees to be paid in advance £10 minimum. If you want someone else to collect the property on your behalf, you must provide a signed letter or authorisation email. Items which remain unclaimed after 3 months from the date of your return becomes the property of Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire. We will remove and securely destroy any personal data and then dispose of the property.

Data Protection Act

The information that you have provided to Twenty4Seven Campervan Hire will be used to fulfil the contract placed with us. We will not pass this information on to any other organisations outside this company other than to our insurers.
